I’m Amer Malas, a writer drawn to silence, memory, and the slow work of becoming whole.

My debut novel, Shards of Belonging, is a story about return—returning to places we fled, to feelings we buried, to people we tried to forget. It’s an introspective exploration of healing, grief, and the courage to stay when staying is hardest.

I write for those standing at thresholds, those who’ve waited too long, and those who need to hear that broken doesn’t mean unworthy. Through fiction, I rouse reflection. With language, I strive to give my readers a way to understand and acknowledge what they hold inside.

My Story, Why I Write

I’ve always been drawn to what lives beneath the surface—quiet moments, unspoken questions, and the spaces between thought and feeling. Writing helps me stay close to those moments. It’s how I listen, reflect, and make sense of both my own story and the world around me.

My path has crossed cultures and disciplines—from science and technology to creative expression—but what’s stayed with me is a quiet curiosity: about what drives us, what connects us, and how we grow.

My writing is a practice of presence. It’s where I explore transformation, resilience, and the human need to belong—not just to places or people, but to ourselves.

My debut novel, Shards of Belonging, is one expression of that exploration—a purposeful story about return, reflection, and the quiet courage to stay.

If you’re walking through change, seeking meaning, or simply wondering what it means to come home—I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you.

“Broken things can become whole... Not the same. Just different.”
